Let the Fish Fly

Naina is a young woman; curious, angry, and lost in purpose just as most of us are. An incident embarks her on the inner journey where she finds answers through letters left by her grandmother. The letters are nothing but stories. With every story, she discovers a novel truth that breaks the wall of ignorance.

The Vedic text talk about the 6-fold qualifications for a spiritual seeker. These are Sama (calmness of mind), Dama (control of sense organs), Upariti (satiety), Titiksha (forbearance), Shradha (faith) and Samadhana (concentration of mind). With every story that Naina reads, she subconsciously goes through the steps of a seeker. I hope you as a reader will experience the same with Naina.

Inspiring Conversations (SPIRITUAL PARENTING): Kishori Jani, Vedic expert with Author Ekta Bajaj

Spiritual growth of children is as much important as physical, mental, and emotional growth of a child. The whole intention of parenting is to help the child recognise his or her full potential and gain the ability to make the right choices in life. While there is a lot of focus on assimilation of information and giving child the right knowledge but what about the wisdom to apply this knowledge at the right time and the right place? This wisdom and understanding comes from spiritual concepts. When you introduce the concept of self-awareness, aspect of humanity, love, patience, tolerance, and courage are a natural by product. Topics covered 1. Importance of our understanding of spirituality. 2. How do you introduce abstract concepts in a simple way? 3. What has been your approach as a parent? 4. What are some small changes that we can adapt so the parent child bond is strengthened? Kishori Jani is a mother of four, Sanskrit teacher and eastern (Vedic) wisdom coach. She was born and raised in India, in a temple setting to an American mother and Gujarati Father who were both Hindu priests. She gained a deep understanding of the Vedic scriptures and was trained in monastic life. She later obtained her degree in Biochemistry from UCLA in Los Angeles, USA and also worked there in academia for many years. This unique blend of spiritual upbringing and professional skills has enabled her to share timeless Vedic wisdom in a more applicable and relevant way. Ekta Bajaj embodies empowerment and is the author of the book, The Voice of Kali. She is also the co-founder of Author In Me; a creative publishing company that gives children and grown ups a platform to express their voices.
